SPIRITUAL SHARING FROM SRI V.GANESAN  AUGUST 16 2015

Dear brothers and sisters,

Pranams.

Somebody was bold enough to tell me, "Why are you making the 'SPIRITUAL SHARING' a 'habit', by daily mailing it to us ?  Isn't it not only NOT good but also bad in the sense that one more 'habit' is added to our routine life of habits ? "  What else can I do, except smiling.

When a thorn is stuck in the sole of one's foot, only another 'thorn' is capable of removing it !   To remove the habit of getting attached to one's 'name' and 'form', another set of 'Name' and 'Form' alone has to be applied -- in the form of chanting God's Name ( nama japa - God's Name) and offering worship to the 'Idol' or 'Picture' of God ( pooja or murti dhyana -- God's Form ) !

Sri Bhagavan guides us with details about "dhida jnana "  and " adhida jnana ".  Staying in the 'SELF'  with  " Firm and Undisturbed WISDOM" is "dhida jnana "; and, the intellectual understanding of  'What is Wisdom and how to attain IT -- very clearly too'  is  " adhida jnana ".   And, one could solidly be established in "dhida  jnana " only when the " adhida jnana " is entirely given up or transcended.  Conversely, it may not be possible to attain the solidity, without the foundation of clear understanding of IT.  "Spiritual aspiration" (sadhana ) should mature well enough for the flowering of  "Spiritual Perfection" ( Atma Siddhi ) !

When asked, "How long one should do sadhana ?" Sri Bhagavan's response was, "Till the attainment of the [ Atma ] Siddhi ! "

May Sri Bhagavan bless us all !

With Love and Regards

Yours Affectionately,

Ganesan.

Sri Bhagavan said that the 'mind' is only identity of the 'SELF' with the 'body'.  It is a false 'ego' that is created ; it creates false phenomena in its turn, and appears to move in them ; all these are false. The 'SELF' is the only "Reality".  If the false identity vanishes, the persistence of the "Reality" becomes apparent.  It does not mean that "Reality" is not here  and  now .  It is always there and eternally the same.  It is also in everyone's experience. For, everyone knows that "he is ".  "Who is he ?"  Subjectively, " Who Am I ? "  The false 'ego' is associated with 'objects' ; this 'ego' itself is its own 'object. 'Objectivity' is the falsity.  'Subject' is alone the "Reality".  Do not confound yourself with the 'object', namely, the 'body'. This gives rise to the false 'ego', consequently of the 'world' and your movements therein with the resulting misery.  Do not think yourself to be 'this', 'that' or 'anything' ; to be so and so, or to be such and such.  Only leave off the falsity.  The "Reality" will reveal Itself. The scriptures say that the 'SELF' is 'nityasiddha', or "ever present", and yet speak of the removal of 'ajnana' (ignorance).  If the 'SELF' is ( 'nitya' ) 'always' and ( 'siddha' ) 'present', how can there be 'ajnana' (ignorance) ?

For whom is the 'ajnana' ? These are contradictory.  But, such statements are for guiding the earnest seeker in the right way.  He does not readily understand the only "Truth" if mentioned in plain words as in 'natwam naham neme janadhipah' ("Not thou, nor I, nor these things.."). Sri Krishna declared the "Truth", but Arjuna could not grasp it.  Later, Sri Krishna plainly says that people confound Him with the 'body', whereas in reality, He was not born nor will He die.  Still Arjuna requires the whole " Srimad Bhagavad Gita " for the "Truth" to be made clear to him.

Look !  The 'SELF' is only "BE-ing", not being 'this' or 'that'.  It is simple "Being".  "BE" -- and there is an end of the ignorance.  Enquire for whom is the ignorance.  The 'ego' arises when you wake up from sleep.  In deep sleep, you do not say that you are sleeping and that you are going to wake up or that you have been sleeping so long.  But, still you are there.  Only when you are awake you say that you have slept.  Your wakefulness comprises sleep also in it.

Realise your pure "Being".  Let there be no confusion with the 'body'.  The 'body' is the result of 'thoughts'. The 'thoughts' will play as usual, but you will not be affected.  You were not concerned with the 'body' when asleep ; so, you can always remain.

[Post # 1,353] Reminiscence of Aswini Kumar Dutta:

The last time I visited him I had with me the headmaster of our school, who had just then graduated. As soon as Sri Ramakrishna saw him, he asked me: "Where did you pick him up? He's a fine fellow!"

Then he continued: "You are a lawyer. You are very clever. Can you give me a little of your cleverness? The other day your father came here and stayed three days."
Myself: "How did you find him?"
Master: "A nice man. But now and then he talks nonsense."
Myself: "Please help him get over it when you see him next."
At this Sri Ramakrishna smiled a little.

Myself: "Please give us a few instructions."
Master: "Do you know Hriday?"
Myself: "Your nephew? I know him only by name."
Master: "Hriday used to say to me: 'Uncle, please don't give out your stock of instructions all at once. Why should you repeat the same things over and over again?' I would reply: 'You fool, what's that to you? These are my words and if I like I shall repeat them a hundred thousand times. You keep quiet!"
Myself (smiling): "Exactly so!"

A little later he sat up on the bed. He repeated "Om" several times and began to sing a song whose first line is: "Dive deep, O mind, dive deep in the Ocean of God's Beauty."
Hardly had he sung one or two lines when he himself dived deep and was lost in samadhi.

Questioner: “Can a Jnani help not only those who follow his path but also others who follow other paths?”
Bhagavan: “Undoubtedly. He can help people whatever path they choose to follow. It is something like this. Suppose there is a hill. There will be very many paths to climb it. If he were to ask people to climb by the way he came, some may like it and some may not. If people who do not like it are asked to climb by that path, and by that path only, they will not be able to come up. Hence a Jnani helps people following any particular path whatever it may be. People who are midway may not know about the merits and demerits of other paths, but one who has climbed the summit and sits there observing others coming up is able to see all the paths. He will therefore be able to tell people who are coming up to move a little to this side or that or to avoid a pitfall. The goal is the same for all, you see.”

Everybody says, "Control yourself. Control the mind." People have been trying to do this for thousands of years.

Five thousand years ago, Arjuna asked Krishna a similar question. He said, "This mind is just like air. If you try and catch air in your hand, nothing happens. The fist just closes on empty space. How to control something that I can't even catch hold of?"

Krishna told him, "By abhyasa, which means spiritual practice, and by vairagya, which means detachment."

If you have no attachment to the objects that appear in your mind, then you have learned to control the mind in the natural way.

Direct Experience

M.: Turn your mind inward and spend the time usefully.
In the union of the individual with the Supreme, the Supreme is hearsay and the individual directly experienced.
You can make use only of direct experience;
therefore look [and find out] who you are.

Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi

I am

Identify as Peace-Beauty-Love, do not experience it. Know, "I am inactive, the activity takes place in me, I am That, I am the screen, I never come and I never go."
Identify as Consciousness Itself.
If you do not forget who you are, this appearance of activity is the Cosmic Dance. Stay as 'I am," not as what comes and goes. The individual I-sense is mind, but Being has no frontiers. It is aware of Itself Itself. Identify as Being.

When mind is pure you will see Self in all Beings.Purify the mind by removing all concepts, especially the concept of purity, Then, Self reveals itself to the empty mind
which is Consciousness.

Ego and mind and all creations arise out of Self as Self, even the ugliest of doubts and the most separate of differences rise from the beautiful source as Isness. In Self, there are no do's and don'ts. If there is unhappiness you are not unhappy, you are the Untouched Awareness of this unhappiness. As waves are not separate from ocean, nor rays from sun, you are not separate from existence. You are the Moment in which all is.
