By stopping the breath,
the five elements in the body are
bound down and controlled,
what remains is the real Self..

"There is such a thing as loving God without knowing why. If this is attained, there is nothing more to desire. One endowed with such Bhakti says, 'O Lord, I do not want riches, fame, health, happiness or anything else. Grant that I may have pure devotion to Thy lotus feet!' "

-Sayings of Sri Ramakrishna

The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticize others..

Q: It is said that the Guru can make his disciple realize the Self by transmitting some of his own power to him? Is it true?

Ramana Maharishi: Yes. The Guru does not bring about Self-realization. He simply removes the obstacles to it. The Self is always realized.

Q: Is it absolutely necessary to have a Guru if one is seeking Self-realization?

A: So long as you seek Self-realization the Guru is necessary. Guru is the Self. Take Guru to be the real Self and your self as the individual self. The disappearance of this sense of duality is the removal of ignorance. So long as duality persists in you the Guru is necessary. Because you identify yourself with the body you think that the Guru is also a body. You are not the body, nor is the Guru. You are the Self and so is the Guru. This knowledge is gained by what you call Self-realization.

Devotee.....
Surrender seems easier....
Is there any need for self - enquiry?

Maharshi....
As often as one tries to surrender, the ego rises its head and one has to try to suppress it....
Surrender is not an easy thing....
Killing the ego is not an easy thing....
It is only when God himself by his grace draws the mind inward, that complete surrender can be achieved.....
Spiritual practice is preparatory to the extinction of the mind, and killing of the ego......

so there will be no bondage....

There is only one way of loving people and that is to love them as they are.
And this is the beauty: that when you love them as they are, they change. Not according to you -- they change according to their own reality. When you love them, they are transformed. They become new, they attain new heights of being. But that happens in their being, and it happens according to their nature.

Help people to be natural, help people to be free, help people to be themselves, and never try to force anybody, to pull and push and manipulate. Those are the ways of the ego.

Pure joy is not a state. It’s not,
'Wow, I am having a really good time.'
Good time, bad time—such times
make no difference to the Self.
You don't know what good time and bad time is.
You only know the joy of the Supreme.
You are always empty. Inside, outside: empty.
You don't know how to measure anything.
This emptiness is not a measure.
It’s just your joy—the joy that was there
from before the beginning of this world.
And it is here during the great play of the world.
And after the show of the world is over,
it will still be here.
Here inside your Heart you find it.

reality

“You must always remember that silence is the greatest teacher. Quietness, silence, total stillness, it is the greatest teacher. Reality shines through where there is silence. If you want to experience reality just keep quiet. That is all you have to do.

Shut up. Stop talking. Stop thinking. Stop imagining. Leave it all alone”

🌸 Robert Adams

reality

You may experience anything,
but you should never rest content with that...
Whether you feel pleasure or fear,
ask yourself who feels the pleasure or the fear and so carry on the sadhana until
pleasure and fear are both transcended,
till all duality ceases and
till the reality alone remains....

Sri Ramana Maharshi.....

Whatever is to happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time is all fixed by Him [Her]; His arrangements are perfect.

teaching

I teach about That
which cannot be attained
by any teaching.

My teaching cannot be taught.

I have no teaching
for the Essence from where
all teachings arise from,
this Essence doesn't need
any teaching or non-teaching
for it is beyond everything.

It is from where all words
rise from.

Quotable Quotes from Day by Day...

Guru's grace is always there....
You imagine it is something,
somewhere high up in the sky,
far away, and has to descend....
It is really inside you, in your heart,
and the moment (by any of the methods)
you effect subsidence,
or merger of the mind in to its source,
the grace rushes forth....

Ramana Maharshi....

"It is not about mind-watching;
but rather recognizing That
which watches the mind."

🧡 Mooji

Seek the source of the mind,
and you find,
the mind does not
exist at all.

The mind, turned outwards,
results in thoughts and objects.

Turned inwards,
it becomes itself the Self.

Knowledge absolute is free from all differences created by the false, deluding ego. The gracious stillness, the awareness all-transcendent, is the state supreme experienced by the Great.

Attention

From ~~~~ Conscious Immortality, Ch.4

M.:
When attention is directed
towards objects and intellect,
mind is aware only of these things.
That is our present state.

But when we attend to the Self within
we become conscious of It alone.

It is therefore all a matter of attention.

Our mind has for so long
been attending to external things
that the latter have enslaved it
and drag it hither and thither.

Be filled with love, be filled with gratitude, get rid of the fear in you by being in love.

Change is the law of life, the most certain thing is the uncertainty surrounding life, everything, every person, every event comes and goes, nothing is permanent except Satyam. In the interim, if there is anyone you have to hold on, let it be the Divine, let it be Deiva Satyam. Radhe Radhe.

Know this: When you say 'I',
the true meaning of 'I' is joy, is happiness, it is life,
and it is also the witnessing of life.
Enjoy what comes,
but don't worry about anything at all.
Just be happy, happy, happy.
Know that whatever happens in life,
the final point is that everything is fine.
All is fine.

~ Mooji, from the book 'White Fire'

It is so common to struggle in daily life. We are rarely at ease in the here and the now, always struggling, trying to attain something. The first element of the practice is to stop struggling.

Just allow yourself to be.
