quite

Stay open and quiet, that is all.
What you seek is so near you
that there is no place for a way.

Meet you own self. Be with your own self, listen to it, obey it, cherish it, keep it in mind ceaselessly. You need no other
guide.

Abandon all conceptualization and stay silent and attentive.
Be earnest about it.

- The Nisargadatta Path.

surrender

"Surrender,
let Silence have you.

Surrender to the source,
Surrender to awareness,
this is the only place of protection.

Surrender your heart and you will know all. Surrender to Consciousness and Bliss.

Surrender means to surrender your bondage and to simply be Freedom."

~ Papaji

let go

What is not stable and permanent, let go.
There is only one thing left.
Worlds and gods will disappear, but This will not.
When you are reminded of this keep your eye on it,
not with the intention of having it, but just to BE it!

All the things you want are in the "let go" category:
House, wife, body, parents, gods, let go.

What is left? What cannot go? That you ARE!
You cannot go because you have never come
and anything that comes must go.

Find out what it is.

🕉 Sri H. W. L. Poonja (Papaji)

Pre determined

Everything is predetermined.
But a man is always free not to identify himself with the body, and not to be affected by the pleasures or pains consequent on the body’s activities.

Those alone who have no knowledge of the Source whence fate and freewill arise, will dispute which of them can conquer
the other. Those who have realized their Self, which is the Source of both fate and freewill have left such disputes behind,
and will have nothing more to do with them.

Success and failure are due to prarabdha karma, and not to willpower or the lack of it. One should try to gain equipoise of mind under all circumstances. That is willpower.

- GEMS from Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi

no thing

"I found myself without desires
  and without knowledge.

There was nothing left but love,
 the state of witness was left behind;
there was only love, all pervading,
 all embracing, absolute.

 There were no crucial experiences,
 no soul-shattering visions.
I just ceased imagining myself to
be what I never was and there was
nothing to replace the unreal with.

There was no need to look for
 replacements - the nothingness
 was the fullness of understanding,
 love and silent peace."

 ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

self aware

Only be aware of the self.
Why worry about these shadows ?
How do they affect the self?

guru

THE GURU IS THE GOAL

June 1937

Visitor: I have been following a certain school of thought, which completely dispenses with gurus. But after many years of deep thinking, I have now come to the conclusion that a guide is absolutely essential on the difficult path which leads to spiritual liberation. I take Bhagavan to have reached the Highest, and so I beg of him to enlighten me.

Bhagavan: All scriptures recommend spiritual teachers. The guru is none other than the goal men seek, the Self. As the seeker’s mind is bent outward, the Self takes a human shape as a guru to help driving it inward. Thayumanavar says that God, Self, or Guru appears as a man to dispel the ignorance of man, just as a deer is used as a decoy to capture a wild deer. He has to appear in a body in order to dispel the “I-am-the-body” notion of the seeker.

leave everything alone

lllllllllll Leave Everything Alone lllllllllll
=============================
Whenever your thoughts dwell on the past, do not become angry with yourself.
Leave them alone.
Do not observe them.
Do not watch them.
Do not be the witness to them.
Just leave them alone.
They will disappear of their own volition,
due to the fact that they never existed.
This is an important point.
This is the reason why you leave everything alone.

Now if things existed, if there were such a thing as negative thinking, karma to get rid of, then you'd have a job on your hands. You'd have to do all sorts of things to remove your karma, your past sins. You'd be working continuously.
Practicing all kinds of japa, mantras, everything, to remove all of these thoughts of the past. But I say to you, since these
things never existed to begin with,
why do any work at all?
Oh, it's OK if you like to work, but I'm very lazy myself, and the less work I have to do, the better.

I know it's difficult for some of you to think that you have to do absolutely nothing
to become free because you're already free. For you've been brought up that you have to work, work, work to get ahead.
Why do you want to get ahead?
Ahead to what?
To whom?
Everything must change sooner or later. Everything must dissolve and return to the elements from whence they came. And new forms are always being born, so to speak. So what
kind of goals are you trying to achieve? Your goals will vanish when everything else vanishes, sooner or later.

Think how many civilizations we've had on this planet. Many civilizations, and they've also passed us where we are today.
But where are they now? They're gone. Dissolved into the nothingness from whence they came.
So it is folly to try to improve yourself, or to try to achieve anything. It is folly to try to change something or to become
something.
Just Be. You may ask, how do I just Be?
By asking, you're not being.
To just Be is to just Be.
Not to be this or to be that.
Or to try to discover how to just Be.
Just Be, without trying to understand what that means.
Without analyzing.
Without pondering.
Just Be. Just Be. Just Be. Just Be.

self

There Are No Mistakes
Most people are home watching the presidential debates. We ought to have Jnani debates, where all the Jnanis in the
world show up. Whoever shows up loses, of course. (laughter)
If only people understood the first principle of Self-realization, which is simply this. Whatever is destined to happen is
going to happen, no matter how you try to stop it. And whatever is destined not to happen will never happen, no matter
how much you try to make it happen. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the politicians understood this truth? There would be
absolutely nothing to worry about, nothing to fear, nothing to conquer, nothing to win, nothing to lose. Everything is
unfolding the way it should. Everything is in its right place. There are no mistakes. Everything is lovely and beautiful just
the way it is.
If you can only understand this in your own personal life. What you're supposed to go through in this experience, in
this in carnation, has already been planned for you before you came into this body. Yet you have absolutely nothing to do
with it, because you are not the body. As long as you think you are a body, you think you're somebody, somebody
important. Or you think you are a failure, whatever you think about yourself. If you would only turn within and see the
one Self, then you would never worry about what is going to happen to you at all. For you would realize, there is no you
for anything to happen to. You are total freedom right now, total liberation, complete Awareness. Yet, you do not believe
me. You still feel inclined to be a body, a doer. Think of the experiences you went through today, and see if you do not
believe that you are a doer. How many times did you become angry today? How many times did you feel slighted today?
How many times did you feel fear, or something is wrong somewhere, or you're not in your right place? This shows you
that you believe that you are a body. And as long as you believe that you are a body, why not just let go and stop fretting
and worrying about your body.
The Power that knows the way will take care of you. The One who makes the sun shine, the grass grow, the apples
grow perfectly on apple trees. The food that sustains us, nourishes us, everything has been lovingly provided for us.
Have faith.
Trust the Power that knows the way. This is a first step. To have total faith and total trust in the Infinite, the One. You
may call this God if you want to. Makes no difference what you call it. It is within you. It is without you. It is everywhere.

mind

Killing the innocent body is certainly wrong. Suicide must be committed on the mind, where the suffering is deposited, and not on the body, which is insentient and feels nothing. The mind is the real culprit, being the creator of the anguish which tempts to suicide, but by an error of judgement, the innocent, insentient body is punished for it.

Sri Ramana Maharshi

meditate on void

BHAGAVAN IN CONSCIOUS IMMORTALITY:
“Concentration on That which is free from Vasanas and yet their Core”

Q: Can I realize the Self? It looks so difficult?

Bhagavan: You are already the Self. Therefore realization is for everyone.
It knows no difference in the aspirants. The very doubt: ‘if I can realize' or the feeling 'I have not realized’, are the obstacles. Be free from these also.

Q: Nevertheless unless I have the experience, how can I be free from these conflicting thoughts?

Bhagavan: These are also in the mind. They are there because you have identified yourself with the body. If this false identity drops away, ignorance will vanish and Truth be revealed.

Control of desire and meditation are interdependent. They must go on side by side… to check the mind being projected out (vairagya) and keep it turned inward (abyasa). There is the struggle between control and meditation going on constantly within. Meditation will in due course be successful.

Others have done so as well. Therefore believe it. They did so because they believed they could. It can be done by concentration on That which is free from vasanas and yet is their core.

dream

Isn’t everything a hallucination?

It’s only because we don’t recognize this hallucination as a hallucination that we wander around in life and death.

Everyone is talking about “reality”, but this is only a dream. It’s nothing more than the reality inside a dream. Good! When people are talking about revolution and war, we think that something really special is going on, but what is it besides struggling inside a dream?

When you die, you recognize your dream. Someone who doesn’t put an end to dreaming before then is an ordinary person.

- Kodo Sawaki, 'To You'

self

He who gives himself up to the Self that is God is the most excellent devotee. Giving one self up to God, means constantly remembering the Self. Whatever burdens are thrown on God, He bears them all.

Since the supreme power of God makes all things move, why should we, without submitting ourselves to it, constantly worry ourselves with thoughts as to what should be done and how, and what should not be done and how not?

We know that the train carries all loads, so after getting on it why should we carry our small luggage on our head to our discomfort, instead of putting it down in the train and feeling at ease?

- Sri Ramana Maharshi

I am Body

REMOVE THE 'I-AM THE BODY'-IDEA

Annamalai Swami: Bhagavan is always present, inside you and in front of you. If you don't cover the vision of Bhagavan with your ego, that will be enough.

The ego is the 'I am the body' idea. Remove this idea and you shine as the Self.

That is the only thing you need to do in this life. The various events of your life - all the things that are going to happen to you - they are all destined. If you don't want them to happen, they will still occur, even if you try to avoid them. And if you want things that are not in your destiny, they won't come to you.

There is no point worrying about the outer events of your life because you can exercise no control over these destined activities. Your responsibility in this life is to see who you are, not to rewrite your life script.
