Sannyasa is only the renunciation of the ‘I’ thought, and not the rejection of the external objects. He who has renounced (the “I” thought) thus remains the same whether he is alone or in the midst of the extensive samsara (empirical world).

He who kills Narakasura (the ego) with the Wheel [i.e. weapon] of Jnana, by enquiring, "Where is the source of Narakasura who rules over Narakaloka, this wretched body, as ‘I’?", is Lord Narayana; and that day [of the ego’s destruction] is the auspicious day of the fourteenth moon.

CONSCIOUS IMMORTALITY

Q: Is there not an unchanging Self and a changing self?

M: The changefulness is mere thought. All thoughts arise after the 'I'-thought. See to whom these thoughts arise. Then you will transcend them and they will subside. That is to say, by tracing the source of the 'I'-thought, you will realize that the perfect 'I-I'. 'I' is the name of the Self.

Q: But how shall I reach the Self?

M: There is no reaching the Self. If it were to be reached, it would mean that the Self is not here and now, but would have to be gained. What is got afresh, will also be lost. So it will beimpermanent. What is not permanent is not worth striving for. So I say, the Self is not reached. You are the Self. You are already That.

The fact is that you are ignorant of your blissful state. Ignorance draws a veil over the pure Bliss. Direct your attempts only towards removing the ignorance. This ignorance is just wrong knowledge. The wrong lies in the false identification of the Self with the body and mind. This false identity must go by enquiry into the Self.

The Self is beyond duality. If there is one there will also be two. Without one there are no other numbers. The truth is neither one nor two. It is as it is.

Be always feeling and reflecting on the real Being. Be That. Cling close to It. Let your quest be constant and sustained until you catch the Self and thereby find eternal happiness.

CONSCIOUS IMMORTALITY

Q: If I am infinite how did I become finite?

M: Analyze your words. You begin with 'I'. Know the 'I' first. If the question persists after that, you may consider it then, but not before..

The Self is here and now and alone. It is not new and something to be acquired. It is natural and permanent. The term 'Self' refers to the unlimited, the infinite Self; do not limit its meaning. ...

The Self is eternally realized. If it were not eternal it would have to have a beginning. What begins must have an end. and is only transient. There is no use in seeking a temporary condition.

The fact is that it is the state of effortless, alert peace.

Effortlessness while remaining aware is the Bliss state.

Lies Exposed:

A quiet mind gains insight by allowing your lies to be exposed. This inner place of peace is the place where all truth awaits to be revealed, but only when quietness is the focus.

A true understanding of life cannot be revealed by doing. There are many highly intelligent people who will never understand this. This doesn't mean there's anything wrong with intelligence, but you only know what you can focus on. For me, insights came from the realization that the cause of why I struggled so much with life was because of a selfish view; now the focus is on this. This is what a quiet mind affords a person, it has nothing to do with intelligence.

Focused on quietness is where insight is revealed and when your lies are exposed; this is how insights arise. Use whatever gateway that works to get quiet and focus on that. The mind will settle more and more into a state of quietness that allows insights. Becoming truly insightful isn't for a select few, it's available to anyone. It takes an understanding that quietness has nothing to do with intellect, it's something which occurs as a result of inward focus. The insight that leads to a greater understanding of life can only be realized in quietness so if the focus is on an intellectual understanding, don't be surprised by the lack of insight. To me, you only gain insight by allowing your lies to be exposed, this has nothing to do with intelligence. It's your conditioned lies that block you from love and this block will only be removed when your lies are exposed and the minds focus is on quietness.

THE SECRET

There is only one secret which is not part of the mind, and that is witnessing, watching. Thoughts are passing, desires are moving, memories are coming and going like clouds in the sky and you are sitting silently simply watching, not doing anything. If you do anything immediately the mind starts functioning. What you do does not matter - doing is part of mind. A non-doing witnessing, just witnessing, as if a mirror goes on witnessing whatsoever passes by - that is awareness. And that awareness takes you beyond the mind. It is true meditation... ~OSHO~

THE GIFT OF YOUR SENSITIVITY

You are awake.
You are sensitive.
You feel everything.

Sometimes you wish you didn't feel everything.
But you do.

The depths of loneliness.
The heights of joy.
Sometimes it feels like it's too much.
Sometimes you dream of numbing yourself.

It's a lot, living this close to life, this close to death, this close to yourself.

But then, you realise, numbing the pain would also numb the joy.

And you refuse to be numb like the others.

So you walk, your heart exposed all day, every day, every fucking day.
Great sorrows ploughing through.
Bliss cascading like a waterfall.
Unable to switch it off.
Unable to run.
(Where would you run to?
There is only you.)

You, and your raw, broken open heart.
You, and the thrill and dread of being alive for another day.
Another whole day!
Sensitive to the tiniest little flicker or flutter of experience.
To the breeze on your face.
The cracked glass in the old window.
The spider web in the half light.
The contraction and expansion of each sacred breath.

A morning shifting into afternoon.
A secret or promise kept or not.
A plan crumbling into shiny Unknowing.

You will take this intensity, yes.
You will commit to this living, yes.
You will walk this path, of course.
Even though you will doubt it, often.
There is no other path for you.

You feel everything.
You are sensitive.
You are awake.

And our noisy world needs you,
now more then ever.

The mind always seeks
external knowledge,
leaving aside knowledge about itself....

Ramana....

1

"He alone knows to whom He will reveal Himself under which form. By what path and in what manner the Almighty attracts any particular person to Himself with great force is incomprehensible to the human intelligence.

The path differs indeed for different pilgrims. Very often He destroys misfortune by misfortune, and removes sorrow by sorrow. To advance in this spirit means for everyone to tread his own path. One's own path is the path that leads to Self-realization, to the supreme, ultimate Goal itself."

being presence

Have no fear and plunge into your own Being.
When "you" disappear, all fear will also.
Stay Quiet, Be Still, Here you are.
Stay as the Presence in your Heart.
Do not fear meeting the Self, it is what you have always been.
Nothing can be lost, have no fear.

At Deoghar once a Sadhu came and said he could tell everybody’s thoughts by looking at their faces. I told this to Mother and suggested to Her that he might be asked to tell Hers. She did not say anything and so I called the sadhu to Her room and said, "Let us know what is passing in Her mind.” The sadhu stared at Her eyes for a very long time and as Mother did not turn Her gaze he eventually closed his eyes and said, "She is not an ordinary lady. I cannot tell what is passing in Her mind."

Once a palmist came and Mother's palm was shown to him. He looked at it for a few moments and then prostrated before Her, saying, "She is a great Sadhu - I never saw such a hand before in my life."

Mother had a very strong sense of humor and sometimes She would relate stories with gestures and keep us laughing for hours together. Generally, however, She was reserved and would only listen, rarely speaking.

When a visitor came to visit Her She would talk to him and listen to him for some time. Within a short time, She would know him so thoroughly that he could hide nothing from Her.

Samādhi is our natural state of clear self-awareness, because it is a state that the mind enters only by the practice of self-attentiveness: that is, by attending only to ‘I’.

~Sri Ramana Maharshi

God will bear whatever burdens we put on Him. All things are being carried on by the omnipotent power of a Supreme God. Instead of submitting ourselves to It, why should we always be planning, ‘We should do this or that’.

Knowing that the train carries all the load, why should we, travelling therein, suffer by carrying our small bundle on our heads, instead of leaving it on the train and being happy.
