subhashit

Work is for the purification of mind, not for the perception of reality. The realisation of Truth is brought about by Discrimination and not in the least by ten million of acts.

[ The idea is that... works properly done cleans the mind of its impurities... and then the Truth flashes itself...]

Five vices

Five vices (paap) of present times:

Naari ninda - Western cultures have witnessed ill treatment of women at many places. Whereas, Indian thought bows down to women in the first place - ‘Matru devo bhav’. Every woman should be treated with respect.

Never insult anyone- move yourself than removing others.Don’t ignore the common man; reach out to the last person.

Dwesh-drishti - abhorrence towards others is a vice. Bhagwad Gita says that the one who neither expects nor has hatred towards anyone is a sanyasi (ascetic).

Asahaj jeevan - Live in your originality, don’t try to imitate others even in the spiritual field.

Never create hurdles in the worship pattern of others. Do not disturb in anyone’s time of bhajan

There was an Indian Chief who had four sons.
He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly.

... So he sent them each on a quest, in turn,
to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the Winter,

the second in the Spring,

the third in Summer,

and the youngest son in the Fall.

When they had all gone and come back,
he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said 'no' it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful.

It was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right,
because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.

~~~He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season,
and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from
that life can only be measured at the end -- when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's Winter, you will miss the promise of your Spring,
the beauty of your Summer, the fulfillment of your Fall.
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
So,
*****Don't judge life by one difficult season.
*****Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come.
Pride gives Pain to Everyone
Pride gives Pain to Everyone
He who enjoys worldly pleasures, whether he does it with his own wealth, knowledge, power and does it lawfully, as prescribed in scriptures etc. , then too he gives pain (sorrow, displeasure) to others. If you take pleasure from a particular thing, then that thing has departed from someone or the other, due to which you have gained pleasure from it. The reason is that all favorable things in the world are finite and limited. One can even get displeasure from a saint-great soul, but it is of a different kind. Their spiritual joy cannot give sorrow to anyone, but seeing them joyful as per their nature, others become displeased. Therefore that pain and displeasure is due to the other person's nature. Saints- great souls do not become the cause in that sorrow. He who with his prudence and cleverness acquires worldly things and enjoys pleasures with it, he inevitably gives sorrow to others. A happy person filled with spiritual joy, does not give sorrow to others, but others become displeased. Just as Shivaling is for praying, but if someone uses it to break their head, then what is one to do? Therefore he who is happy due to worldly pleasures, gives displeasure (sorrow) to others.
This is a very deep subject that without giving sorrow, pleasures cannot ever be enjoyed. That enjoyment of pleasures makes someone or the other dependent. With the enjoyment of pleasures, the objects of enjoyment are destroyed and the enjoyer is also doomed. No one can be saved from this. Therefore any which way, indulging in pleasure is the road to hell.
The main point is what has been told previously. Pay attention to it. Worldly pleasures are limited and are the kind to come into being and later disappear. Everyone is trying to acquire those things that are limited (finite), therefore those things will with certainty be divided (shared). But spiritual joy is unlimited, therefore there is no division of it. All can get abundance of it. Just as a mother may have ten children, then too the mother is not divided among the ten. It is not that a certain portion of the mother is one child's, the remaining belongs to the other children. Mother belongs to every one of the children, completely and totally. Similarly, God is entirely and totally ours.
When desires are entirely eradicated then pride will be wiped out and when pride goes away completely, then desires too will come to an end. When these go away, the affinity with the inert (world) will be cut off and all pleasures and deficiencies will come to an end.
