Bliss

Undisturbed state of being is bliss.
Disturbed state is what appears as the world.
In non duality there is bliss.
In duality experience.
What comes and goes is experience with its duality of pain and pleasure.
Bliss is not to be known.
One is always bliss but never be blissful.
Bliss is not an attribute.

....
One without the sense of duality has no occupation.
No intension or desire and
No sense of doership.

Self is not an object of experience

THE SELF IS NOT AN OBJECT OF EXPERIENCE

Q: There is nothing to be seen in the ReaL?

M: Because you are accustomed to identifying yourself with the body, and sight with the eyes, you say you do not see anything.

What is there to be seen?
Who is there to see?
How do you see?

There is only one Consciousness, which manifests as the ‘I’-thought, identifies itself with the body, projects itself through the eyes and sees the objects around.

The individual is limited in the waking state and expects to see something different. The evidence of his senses will be the seal of authority, But he will not admit that the seer, the seen and the sight are all manifestations of the same Consciousness.

Meditation helps to remove the illusion that the Self must
be visual. How do you see the ‘I’now? Do you hold a mirror in front of yourself to know your own being? The awareness is the ‘I’. Realize that: it is the Truth.

Vasnas

CONVERSATIONS WITH ANNAMALAI SWAMI

Q: You talk a lot about vasanas. Could you please tell me exactly what they are and how they function?

AS: Vasanas are habits of the mind. They are the mistaken
identifications and the repeated thought patterns that occur again and again. It is the vasanas which cover up the experience of the Self. Vasanas arise, catch your attention, and pull you outwards towards the world rather than inwards towards the Self. This happens so often and so continuously that the mind never gets a chance to rest or to understand its real nature.

Cocks like to claw the ground. It is a perpetual habit with
them. Even if they are standing on bare rock they still try to scratch the ground.

Vasanas function in much the same way. They are habits and
patterns of thought that appear again and again even if they are not wanted. Most of our ideas and thoughts are incorrect. When they rise habitually as vasanas they brainwash us into thinking that they are true. The fundamental vasanas such as 'I am the body' or 'I am the mind' have appeared in us so many times that we automatically accept that they are true. Even our desire to transcend our vasanas is a vasana. When we think 'I must meditate' or 'I must make an effort' we are just organizing a fight between two different vasanas. You can only escape the habits of the mind by abiding in consciousness as consciousness. Be who you are. Be as you are. Just be still. Ignore all the vasanas that rise in the mind and instead fix your attention in the Self.

Quotes

Awakeness

When your image of the me takes a break, you’ll find all you are doing at that moment is just being open. You feel quite relieved that you are not trying to get to another moment or a better experience. You feel yourself just being in a very relaxed, easy sense of peace. You haven’t gained anything at all—you’re not smarter, you don’t necessarily know more than anyone else, and you haven’t suddenly become holy. If you are resting as your own true nature, then you feel that there is really nowhere else to go.

At that moment, you feel as if your path has ended. It can be hard to end it when so much is invested in your path, but if you really want to be free, you must want to know the truth more than anything else. And when you do, you find that the truth is so damn empty. There is so much nothing to it. There is so much nobody there, just a very vivid awakeness.

Happiness

Please, please see it: everything is alive.
Great, great Alive.

This is the happiness of all happiness.
And this “now here” can never be destroyed.
The light of your eternal life is shining brightly, now.
What joy there is in this radiance!

Please, take care of yourself, your shining Buddha-self.
Become ever more able to appreciate your Buddha-self.

That is not to say be arrogant. There is nowhere anyone to feel small, no one to be made small, no one to feel superior, no one toward whom you could feel superior. So who are you to feel vain and proud when your very source is all being?

You are supported, you are nurtured, you are guarded by all being. Thanks to all being, together, one, is all the universe.

This breath is breathed, so close, always one, always together. Please never forsake the limitless treasure, which is you yourself.

Be in touch, simply do not look away. Grasp nothing, hold nothing. There is just now, here, fresh, new, alive. Now. Just do you practice with all good grace.

Self

Having realized the One Self, and that there is nothing outside of It, one knows that the image one has worshipped is THAT in a particular form.

Having found Reality, one perceives it in this particular guise: the deity I adored is none other than the One Self, the Brahman - there is no second.

Thus, the One is the Lord I worshipped.

When one has dived into the depth of the sea, water is known to be He in one form. The aspirant who advances along the path of bhakti will, when he has attained to the vision of his Master, become a true servant. The methods of ‘not this, not this’ and ‘this is Thou, this is Thou’ lead to the One Goal.
